Project Description
The applicant and landowner (Tocoforce (Pty) Ltd) is proposing to develop a small-scale, low impact Eco Lodge and supporting facilities on Farm 37 and Portion 2 of Farm 37, located near the town of Addo and entirely surrounded by the Addo Elephant National Park (AENP). In terms of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act No. 107 of 1998) (NEMA) and the 2014 Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) regulations (as amended, 2017), the proposed development requires an environmental authorisation to be issued by the Eastern Cape Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEDEAT) prior to the commencement of construction. A Basic Assessment has been carried out as part of the environmental authorisation application process.
